my design conundrum
so..i think i am a bit bipolar when it comes to my taste for home decor. i've posted cozy, white, minimalistic rooms on here quite a bit. however, when i'm perusing home sweet home for inspiration, i almost always stop at the extremely colorful patterns, wall hangings and furniture. so i'm not sure how i'm going to handle that when i actually have my own house to decorate! not that that will happen at any point soon. here are some examples of my extreme preferences at either end of the spectrum.

serenity now

hi my loves. so so sorry for the complete black out of the blog the past few days. i've been traveling like crazy, and i am currently writing this post from the 21st floor of the hilton in minneapolis. all i can think about though, is when i finally can relax again. that won't be until thanksgiving really, but i can't help but thinking about it now. i think this quote is absoluetly fabulous, and is exactly what makes me most happy on a saturday morning. however, i like to think that instead of "smoking too many cigarettes" i would replace that line with "eat too many bagels". anyway, it's wonderful none the less. and how about these lovely white sanctuaries? you all know how i feel about those peaceful, simplistic bedrooms (though mine is anything but). i could really use a long soak in that tub right about now. and i don't even think i need to say anything about the outdoor shower. pure bliss. i am also currently eating a bag of popcorn that cost 14 dollars through room service. XOXO

the barefoot contessa

(via house beautiful)
anyone who knows me, knows that i am obsessed with ina garten and everything that she creates. this goes beyond the realm of food. there is something about her style that is so crisp and classic. i wanted to highlight pictures of her beautiful home in the hamptons (which one of my friends got to tour last weekend..so jealous..). i love all the white and gray mixed with natural materials and fresh flowers.

white
so, after moving into my new apartment, i've realized something. i miss my old room! i'm not sure why exactly, but i think it's something about the coziness (sp?) factor. my old room was a bit smaller and it was just this warm little nook that i loved. my new room is great..but it needs something. lately i've been thinking about redecorating it..and though i am too much of a color freak to ever take the plunge to an all white bedroom..i love to daydream about this style. there is something to be said about great light and a fluffy comforter. it somehow transforms a room. here are three that i love:

this one though, is my absolute favorite. and perhaps the one that is the most easily imitated. not the light part though, light that beautiful is impossible to find in new york city. maybe brooklyn?
