twenty ten

happy 2010. i am really looking forward to this year. as t said to me yesterday, we have finally adjusted to life after college and the real world. now it feels like we are knee-deep in our lives and there are only good things to come :) i think that is the most on point thing he has ever said. my new years resolutions are loose and flexible this year, but i have tried to make at least a few. in no particular order they are:

-cook more
-go to the grocery store!
-stop ordering in (oh seamless web you make this so hard)
-buy less ( i just don't need another pair of shoes..)
-exercise more
-watch less tv
-play more games

i think those are pretty simple goals. i hope to be able to at least try a little harder to achieve them. that being said, i am planning on watching the bachelor tonight to see a girl i went to high school with. BUT i will be cooking instead of ordering in :) xoxo

freeman's

so this post is very much after the fact. i visited the restaurant freeman's on the lower east side a while back. but i still think it's probably the coolest place i've been to in the city. it has an incredibly rustic cozy feel to it, which as you know, is totally my cup of tea. it is hidden in a back alley, and it feels like an amazing secret you've discovered. i believe the exact location is "off of rivington" between the bowery and chrystie.i went for brunch with friends and although the host who sat us was a totally douche, the meal itself was outstanding. we started wtih delicious cocktails and i have no recollection of what i had..but i know i loved it. here is the cocktail menu. i then ordered the buckwheat pancakes and our group shared the spinach and artichoke dip. i also tried the cheese grits. i have to say, the spinach and artichoke dip was definitely the best i've ever had and i wanted to lick the bowl of cheese grits but i thought that was inappropriate because they were not mine. anyway..my lovely blog readers. who wants to go to freeman's with me for dinner sometime? i promise i will buy you flowers and it can be romantic.

post-it notes

i must admit..i used to have a phobia of post-it notes. when i would wake up in the morning, there would inevitably be one stuck to the mirror or front door letting me know that i had to either empty the dishwasher, brush my teeth (when i was little), take the dog out or other chores that seem like a big deal when you're a kid. but now, i just love post-it notes and all other kinds! i think leaving a little hello to someone is such a nice surprise for them. it's so important to me to always let the people i love know it. and a note is a perfect way to do it. people really appreciate it.

warm & cozy

so it's chilly out and it's october (when did that happen?) and what i'd really love to do tonight is curl up by a fireplace and listen to music and eat cheese and crackers and drink wine. who's with me? aren't these fireplaces absolutely gorgeous. i never really appreciated having one in my house growing up, but now i think there is such an old fashioned romance that is created by a crackling fire and good company.

serenity now

hi my loves. so so sorry for the complete black out of the blog the past few days. i've been traveling like crazy, and i am currently writing this post from the 21st floor of the hilton in minneapolis. all i can think about though, is when i finally can relax again. that won't be until thanksgiving really, but i can't help but thinking about it now. i think this quote is absoluetly fabulous, and is exactly what makes me most happy on a saturday morning. however, i like to think that instead of "smoking too many cigarettes" i would replace that line with "eat too many bagels". anyway, it's wonderful none the less. and how about these lovely white sanctuaries? you all know how i feel about those peaceful, simplistic bedrooms (though mine is anything but). i could really use a long soak in that tub right about now. and i don't even think i need to say anything about the outdoor shower. pure bliss. i am also currently eating a bag of popcorn that cost 14 dollars through room service. XOXO

fall road trip

tomorrow is the first day of fall. though i'm sure i've mentioned this before, fall is definitely my favorite season. this picture i took a few years ago in western mass embodies the beauty that autumn brings. add some shades, a pumpkin spice latte, good tunes (i'm currently listening to jay-z and alicia keyes-empire state of mind) and your best friends, and you've got the equation for the most perfect road trip ever.

flashy jewels

if i had my way..i would wear all of these rings and bracelets at the same time. but then i wouldn't be able to type or bbm. and everyone would think i was crazy. i would not, however, pierce my face or wear pink lipstick. not ever.

food porn

so as i've said before, i wish ina garten was my mom or guardian angel or something of the sort. i'd probably be at least 300 pounds, but i wouldn't care because ina would still love me! but after a friend and i bonded over our love of ina this weekend, i thought i would post some pics during the lunch hour that highlight some of the barefoot contessa's most tantalizing, mouth-watering masterpieces. bon apetit! xo
