felix doolittle!

so thanks to a cup of jo..i discovered this fantastic stationary place called felix doolittle (and is that not the coolest name ever) which is based in newton, mass. go figure, why is everything i love in boston? grrr. but anyway, i'm loving the return address stickers with awesome themes. i wish i could get one for someone as a gift, but these days, no one i know has permanent addresses. we all move around too much! as my darling L pointed out, the save-the-date cards are fantastic too. though i don't think i'll be needing those for a very long time ;)

post-it notes

i must admit..i used to have a phobia of post-it notes. when i would wake up in the morning, there would inevitably be one stuck to the mirror or front door letting me know that i had to either empty the dishwasher, brush my teeth (when i was little), take the dog out or other chores that seem like a big deal when you're a kid. but now, i just love post-it notes and all other kinds! i think leaving a little hello to someone is such a nice surprise for them. it's so important to me to always let the people i love know it. and a note is a perfect way to do it. people really appreciate it.

a headless tale

so today, as i was wondering around the city looking for halloween costume materials (i refuse to buy one), i happened upon a pigeon with no head. it really made me sad, particularly because he was alive. but without a head. what an awful fate. he was just standing there quietly on the sidewalk..swaying his little body..i wanted to save him, but his appendage was nowhere in sight and regardless i'm not exactly a specialist in reattaching pigeon's heads to their bodies. though at that moment, i truly wish that was my special skill. here are pictures of animals WITH heads. they are very cute. 

my favorite has to be the cockatiel at the top..what a hysterical expressoin! i think this artist might love cute animals more than me! her name is sharon montrose and you should check out her etsy shop! xx

so..i think cameras are cool. i think photography is cool. but..i always look at what the camera captures, not the camera itself. though my canon power shot is nothing to admire, there are some cameras out there that, in my opinion, are just as cool to look at instead of through. here are some of my favorites.

best halloween costume ever! and perhaps the most adorable little boy too!

delphinium home

while wandering around hell's kitchen, looking for a place to have lunch, i finally had the opportunity to stop into a store i've passed many times. delphinium home, located on 9th avenue near 47th street is an adorable shop that reminds me of the tiny, electic boutiques that i find to be much more common in western mass than new york city (uptown at least). it is the perfect balance of knick knacks and practical (sort of) things. my favorite were the bumble bee and lady bug rain boots for little kids, the fragrant candles and of course the cookbooks. the store is bright and colorful, and had i not been dragged away, i could have stayed exploring for quite a while. i definitely recommend going. it would be a perfect place to buy a housewarming gift or birthday present!
