macarons schmacarons

okay..so i must admit..i don't get what the big deal is about these fancy pants french macarons that everyone talks about (please don't shun me). they are ALL over the blogosphere (oh dear god did i really just say that?) and i just don't get what is so incredibly amazing about them. that being said, the reason that i feel that way is likely due to the fact that i've only ever tried one..so i clearly must be missing out. however, every time i see the gorgeous rainbow of colors that they come in, i become more and more intrigued. my brother is moving to france in may, and i hope to have a chance to visit him..and if i do, we're going to laduree. i'm glad he's vegan so i won't have to share :)
